An exciting opportunity has arisen for a friendly, enthusiastic, confident Dietitian to become part of the Community Dietetic Team delivering community healthcare within the West Lancashire All Age Eating Disorder Service.


As we are keen to appoint the correct practitioner with enthusiasm for working within Eating disorders a band 6 preceptorship would be considered for the right candidate. The permanent post will be based at Ormskirk district general Hospital, Ormskirk. But flexibility to work and travel around the area is required.
We offer a mentoring and clinical supervision programme with an experienced clinician for those new to community work.


Your role will involve the assessment and implementation of care plans for patients mainly within an outpatient clinical setting however you may occasionally be required to work within in their own home, care homes and other community locations including community hospitals.


Assist in the training of health care professionals and carers and maintenance of IT systems that support patient care.


The department has excellent IT facilities with good clerical support across the West locality.

Honours Degree or equivalent in Nutrition and Dietetics approved by the BDA/Health Professions Council. Health Professions Council registered Dietitian. Evidence of relevant post graduate specialist clinical education at post graduate level or equivalent and /or equivalent experience. Criminal Records Bureau Clearance - enhanced.


Advanced clinical knowledge relevant to the care environment and evidence of evidence based practice in relevant health setting. Knowledge of relevant national policies and guidance including MARSIPAN and NICE and relevant assessment tools. Demonstrate a programme of learning, which involves additional theoretical or conceptual knowledge acquisition achieved through self-study, courses and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Thorough and sound knowledge of the development and maintenance of Eating Disorders and its physiological, psychological and medical aspects. Ability to carry out accurate keyboard / IT skills including word processing, email, PowerPoint, internet and dietary analysis. Assessment and treatment of adults an/or children with non-complex conditions. Evidence of relevant Continuous Professional Development Skills in providing clinical supervision to colleagues. Evidence of involvement in audit/service development projects.


Demonstrate ability to motivate team performance to achieve objectives. Ability to teach and train others using a variety of complex multimedia materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings. Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
