We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join our inspiring and friendly team at our North West Prisons service.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and passionate PWP to develop leadership and management skills.
Your role will be a fixed based position working from our service in The North West Prisons. You will be based at HMP Preston and provide cover to HMP Lancaster Farms and HMP Kirkham as appropriate so access to own transport is essential. You will work full time, 37.5 hours per week on a permanent contract with a salary of £32,306 to £39,027 per annum. About our service
Rethink Mental Illness have been working with Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust since 2015 delivering Step 1 and 2 talking therapies within the prison estate. The mental health teams are an integrated service providing seamless care from PWP through to specialist nursing and psychiatry.
The North West Cluster compromises; HMP Preston, which is a category B, local prison housing adult males predominantly on Remand, HMP Lancaster Farms which is a category C male prison for those who are sentenced, and HMP Kirkham which is a Category D, open conditions adult male prison.
The post does provide Senior cover across all 3 sites, although HMP Preston would be the main place of work. Travel expenses are covered, and travel time is managed flexibly with the post holder.
Standard working hours are Monday - Friday 0800 - 1600 with predominantly face to face work being offered within the prison site.
How will you make a difference?
**As a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner you will**:
Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.
Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to referral protocols, and refer unsuitable -clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary;
Assess and support people with mental health problems in the self-management of their recovery.
Undertake person-centred interviews identifying areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
Provide assessment and Low intensity interventions
Implement and support a range of evidence based interventions utilising a self-management model of mental health care.
Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment.
To work in partnership with other disciplines and to maintain links with statutory and non-statutory agencies as appropriate, in relation to continuing care on release from prison.
Provide clinical and management supervision, to Step 1 and 2 staff within the team.
Provide leadership and model best practice in relation to clinical activity and Rethink Mental Illness values and behaviours
Support supervised staff to maintain appropriate clinical records and maintain outcome data as per service operational policy.
Collate monthly performance data for Head of Prisons & Criminal Justice Services.
Participate in audits of clinical activity and evaluative research as required.
Adopt a flexible and pragmatic approach to ensure the highest standard of service delivery is provided.
Utilise creativity, passion and a solution focussed pragmatism to overcome challenges and strive for excellence
Who I am?
**I have the essentials covered**:
Successfully completed academic course of study in line with the IAPT Low Intensity National Programme and qualified as a PWP, e.g. Post Grad Diploma in Psychological Therapies.
Willingness to learn, adapt and evolve to meet service and organisational demands
Completed or in the process of completing the IAPT supervision training.
Experience of working in a supervisory role.
Have significant post-qualification experience in offering and delivering the full range of evidence-based IAPT low intensity interventions at Step 2.
Knowledge of assessment procedures, screening, referral, record-keeping and evidence-based brief psychological interventions. ü Significant knowledge of IAPT compliant step 2 ways of working.
Knowledge of outcome measures and their use for clinical and audit purposes.
Have the ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients and practice in a non-discriminatory manner, respecting the beliefs and cultural practices of individuals and groups.
Confident communicator, with excellent written and verbal skills
Experience of routine outcome monitoring and audits, utilising them to improve practice
Proficient ICT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and clinical record management systems (e.g. System One, IAPTUS)
