**About the role**
We’ve an amazing new opportunity to become our new Resource Planner, reporting into the Integrated Controls Manager within our Asset Programme Management Office (PMO). We see this role is essential to realising our National Leader ambitions and we’re looking for a motivated governance and change professional, with direct experience of working in a fast-paced Programme Office (PMO) environment.
You’ll be responsible for managing the resource planning function within the PMO, ensuring timely and accurate information relating to staff utilisation is available to stakeholders.
We’re looking for you to be undertake regular reviews of the supply, demand and capacity of the portfolio for hotspots, for example over/under allocation, key resource dependency and taking steps to resolve where necessary. You’ll be ensuring allocations for BAU projects are accurate, along with tracking actual time spent, to provide benchmarks and enable the production of good quality estimates.
You’ll be working with the Project Management community to build internal resource profiles for pre-approved projects, performing resource scenario modelling to inform Business Case development and allocation and also developing and creating outputs to clearly communicate the supply and demand of resources to senior management.
We’re looking for you to contribute to the continuous improvement of the planning function to help embed better ways of working, along with supporting the PMO in influencing delivery through developing and maintaining professional, open, and honest, working relationships across Northumbrian Water.
**About you**
We’re looking for you to have proven experience in resource planning in a portfolio-programme-project environment, along with proven experience of resource planning within specific planning software or a standalone system.
You’ll have a good understanding of schedule management, with the proven ability to develop methods to communicate status and raise issues as soon as they arise. You’ll have experience of capacity and utilisation management, along with what-if scenario modelling / profiling resources.
We’re looking for you to have experience of Microsoft packages, including MS SharePoint, Word, Excel and Power BI, particularly in supporting successful delivery of projects and programmes, along with the proven ability to work in a complex, fast-paced environment and can respond positively to problems and issues that arise.
You’ll have a strong attention to detail, data management, data analysis capability to capture and deliver key messages, providing senior stakeholders with the ability to make timely and informed decisions, along with the proven ability to challenge proactively and effectively.

The Assets Directorate understand the health of our assets, invest wisely and maintain them to continue to provide safe, reliable and resilient services to our customers today and in the future.
We have launched an ambitious transformation programme to drive a real step change in how we deliver our capital projects. This requires the development of a high-performing PMO to provide a central controls function delivering impactful performance reporting, estimating, schedule and risk management, and governance. The overarching objective of the transformation programme is to transition from a hybrid PMO consisting of NWL staff and contractor support, to an entirely inhouse model.
