**About the role**

We’ve an amazing new opportunity to become our new Planning Controller, reporting into the Integrated Controls Manager within our Asset Programme Management Office (PMO). We see this role is essential to realising our National Leader ambitions and we’re looking for a motivated planning professional, with direct experience of working in a fast-paced Programme Office (PMO) environment.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring that project plans are developed, managed in accordance with best practice and tracked on behalf of programme and project managers to meet the overall requirements of the business.

We’re looking for you to be responsible for developing, maintaining and tracking project plans within a portfolio of works, along with supporting the upskilling of the Project Management community in project planning and Project Managers in ensuring accurate and realistic forecasting of performance related milestones.

You’ll ensure the integration of contractor schedules into project schedules and ensure adequate risk provision, along with reviewing and assuring supply chain schedules for appropriate quality and maturity in line with good practice scheduling principles.

We’re looking for you to identify and maintain interdependencies to help provide early insight of any potential deviation from the baseline and propose remedial actions (such as advancement or deferment of activities) in order that threats can be avoided, and opportunities can be exploited.

**About you**

We’re looking for you to have proven experience of project planning in a portfolio-programme-project environment, along with good knowledge of planning principles and experience of Primavera P6, MSP or equivalent planning software.

You’ll have a proven understanding of cost management and how that integrates into schedules, along with risk management and how that integrates into schedules. We’re looking for you to also have experience of resource planning within specific planning software or a standalone system.

We’re looking for you to be able to develop methods to communicate progress and raise issues as soon as they arise, along with experience in leading other professionals to embed desired behaviours and ways of working, either in a line management role or less formal arrangement.

You’ll have the proven ability to work in a complex, fast-paced environment and can respond positively to problems and issues that arise, along with strong data analysis capability to capture and deliver key messages, providing senior stakeholders with the ability to make timely and informed decisions.

The Assets Directorate understand the health of our assets, invest wisely and maintain them to continue to provide safe, reliable and resilient services to our customers today and in the future.

We have launched an ambitious transformation programme to drive a real step change in how we deliver our capital projects. This requires the development of a high-performing PMO to provide a central controls function delivering impactful performance reporting, estimating, schedule and risk management, and governance. The overarching objective of the transformation programme is to transition from a hybrid PMO consisting of NWL staff and contractor support, to an entirely inhouse model.
