**Job summary**:
The Defence People organisation is at the heart of the MOD’s Head Office, developing significant new policies and programmes relating to the workforce to ensure continued delivery of wider defence outputs. The Defence People Armed Forces Remuneration team is responsible for pay, pensions and allowances with a key role in the formulation and delivery of people and reward related policy. The reward and benefits policy must be iteratively shaped to attract, recruit, and retain members of the Armed Forces whilst recognising and protecting niche skill sets, often driven by geo-economic pressures. All reward policy development and project deliverables must substantiate value for money across the Department. It is also essential for the Defence Remuneration team to work cohesively together with each of the Services; Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force Reward delivery leads, neatly co-located in MOD, Main Building.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
**Job description**:
- This is a broad role, offering variety and scope to shape the reward strategy for Defence by providing, initiating and delivering projects for different expenses and benefits, uniquely tailoring them to reflect the operating environments experienced by serving personnel in the military. This role has global reach, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to challenge and cut through complexity and deliver solutions. In turn this will help to shape and mould new business initiatives. Routinely this will involve policy development, project delivery, and the drafting of comms, official correspondence; parliamentary, ministerial, and FOIs. In undertaking this highly collaborative role it is essential to establish and maintain a close working relationship with key Defence stakeholders; Defence Business Services (DBS), the Pay & Allowances Casework and Complaints Cell (PACCC), the reward delivery specialists for each Service: Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, UK Strategic Command in addition to numerous other Defence enablers.**Person specification**:
**Key responsibilities**:
- Lead on reward focused projects for implementation into enduring Defence policy by working alongside the business-as-usual team to progress or initiate reviews/projects and deliver revised policy that is robust and suitably targeted to satisfy the wider objectives of Defence.
- Regularly engage and manage crucial stakeholder interactions, internally and externally across Defence.
- Ensure clear, consistent, and effective communication of reward related updates both internally and externally, including the drafting and publication of comms campaigns.
- Regularly review policy to justifiably propose viable and affordable reward focused solutions and translate into enduring reward focused policy.
- Contribute to wider Armed Forces Remuneration team corporate issues including building and sustaining improved business resilience.
**Desirable Criteria**:
- Project management experience (courses can be offered)
- Used to working to challenging deadlines and managing a range of priorities. At the same time, you will be organised and efficient with your time, able to prioritise and deliver quickly but to a high standard
