We have an opportunity to join our Fleet Management as a Recovery Driver, you will be on the front-line providing a comprehensive vehicle recovery, collection, delivery and driving service. This includes the transportation of equipment, to support policing activities and the effective and efficient operation of Fleet Management.

Our Recovery Drivers are integral members of our team and have a positive, can-do attitude, ready to take on the unique challenges of working with police fleet vehicles.

**What will I be doing?**

You will be required to load, transport and unload vehicles moving to and from the fleet workshop for maintenance and repair. Many of those vehicles can be driven, but there are occasions when damaged or immobile vehicles need to be transported, requiring you to be familiar with equipment and techniques used in those circumstances. Vehicles transported range in size and weight from cars to light commercial vehicles and occasional motorcycles.

You will work a 37-hour week, covering the period 08:00 - 16:00 hours, Monday to Friday, with the choice whether to work fixed or flexible daily hours. However, occasional flexibility is required of all staff to meet short notice operational requirements, which may include a request to work overtime or additional hours.

**What are we looking for?**

You must have experience of collecting and delivering vehicles from depots and vehicle repairers, and a thorough understanding of the safe systems of work and vehicle check procedures required in that environment.

Good communication skills are essential as you will be working with a wide variety of people in many different roles across Northumbria Police, as well as external repairers and contractors.

You must possess the following:

- Institute of Vehicle Recovery Modules VR1 - VR7 (inclusive) and VR24 or equivalent.
- Category CE Driving Licence.
- Vehicle transport and / or recovery experience using a flat-bed or slide-back truck with spectacle lift frame.
