**Job Summary**

This is an opportunity to work in a fast-based, high-profile, Chief Executive office. You will be responsible for managing the Chief Executive Office and supporting the Executive Team to ensure that patients and donors are provided with the highest possible level of care.

**Main duties of the job**

In this role you will lead an efficient, professional, and well co-ordinated central office and help ensure the Chief Executive Officer’s responsibilities and objectives are delivered, in a highly political and sensitive environment. Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing high quality advice and briefings to the Chief Executive Officer, Board, Executive Team and UK Health Departments/ Ministers and Parliamentarians and others as appropriate. The briefings will include summarising key issues, appraising outcomes, and progress reports as appropriate, tailored to suit the audience.
- Undertaking research and evaluating a range of information, some of which may be highly complex and contradictory, assessing issues for their impact, taking action in a timely way and escalating, with recommendations on next steps, as appropriate.
- Providing specialist advice and preparing strategic papers and briefings for Directors and stakeholders on a frequent basis.
- Preparing for high level meetings (e.g., Board or equivalent) and provide the necessary documentation and briefings for the CEO and others.
- Working closely with the Chief of Staff to plan a work schedule for the Chief Executive Office based on internal and external influences and strategic aims of NHSBT and UK Governments. This will include responsibility for the Executive Team meetings, corporate events and planning for Board meetings.
- Accompanying the Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer at meetings, visits etc, to support them in their work and provide feedback on decisions made and progress actions arising as appropriate. Managing competing priorities and making sensible judgements about the urgency and priority of work requests on the Chief Executive Officer and team.
- You will be required to travel within the UK and spend time away from base, which will involve occasionally working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice._

**About You**

**Experience and Knowledge**
- Proactive and flexible in managing demanding workloads and competing priorities.
- Emotionally intelligent, able to pick up on subtle signals and assess a situation effectively.
- Good knowledge of the wider NHS and related organisations
- Excellent leadership and management experience.
- Experience of managing resources against and agreed budget.
- Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint).

**Qualifications and Training**
- Masters degree or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience to Masters level.
- Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).
