**Senior Community Engagement and Accountability Adviser**
**Location: UK Flexible**
**Full time 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.**

**Salary: £48,000 plus (London weighting if applicable)**

**We have an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and insightful Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) professional to join the British Red Cross’ International team.**

**What you will be doing**
The Senior CEA Adviser will provide a leading role in delivering British Red Cross's International CEA ambitions. The role will work in the International Directorate with links to the domestic side within BRC and with the wider Red Cross Movement (IFRC, ICRC and other National Societies) to institutionalise CEA at global, regional and local levels and to further develop the Red Cross Movements CEA Hub. This role will lead the strategic and technical advice and training to build capacity of staff and National Societies (including BRC) to strengthen CEA within policy, structure, systems and culture ensuring that communities are at the centre of Red Cross programming.

**What we are looking for**

With a significant understanding of community engagement and accountability, you’ll have a sound knowledge of good practices in performance and accountability including programme cycle management (PCM).

Significant overseas experience in the International humanitarian or development sector is essential, coupled with practical field experience of designing and establishing beneficiary accountability tools and systems (including feedback mechanisms); and using participative approaches.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and spoken, in addition to experience with systems and processes in project management, managing against milestones, and supporting complex projects with multiple stakeholders.

A proven track record of developing and delivering change programmes in the humanitarian sector
Significant practical field experience of designing and establishing community accountability tools and systems (including information management); and using participative approaches
Experience in supporting the design and development of community-based complaints mechanisms and referral pathways
Excellent relationship-building, representational and networking skills, both internal and external, and at a variety of seniority levels
Significant experience of strengthening CEA with partner organisations
An understanding/experience of developing a service or programme - creating and using user insight to do so
About the team

As a member of the International Directorate you will be part of a directorate responsible for BRC’s international humanitarian response and disaster management, support to resilience programmes and organisational development of our partner Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world.

The work of the International Directorate also includes humanitarian policy and advocacy activities and upholding and promoting International Humanitarian Law. British Red Cross' international work is carried out in coordination and partnership with the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement.
