Islington adult social care is looking for a Communications and Engagement Officer to join the ASC improvement team. The role is maternity cover for approximately 12 months.

Working as a key member of the ASC Improvement team the postholder will plan, develop and deliver creative and high quality content helping us achieve our Departmental visionfor Islington to be a place made up of strong, inclusive and connected communities, where regardless of background, people have fair and equal access to adult social care support that enables residents to live healthy, fulfilling and independent lives.

The Communications and Engagement Officer will engage staff, partners, residents and other stakeholders with Adult Social Care priorities through the development and delivery of creative and high quality content across a range of channels.

Building strong working relationships with senior managers and their staff, the post holder will gain their full involvement in all stages of content development using strong interpersonal skills in order to negotiate and influence priorities. They'll also play a key role in supporting the planning and delivery of events across the Department.

The Communications and Engagement Officer will work across the Council with our corporate communications team to ensure our key messages are aligned and coherent.

This is an exciting and important time for the improvement team and ASC Department more widely as we prepare for the roll out of national ASC focussed CQC inspection and continue to deliver our complex improvement and integration programmes. The post holder will ensure our communications support us to move toward our vision and tell our story in a compelling way throughout this time. They will also work closely with our corporate communications team, ensuring our key messages align.

Develop, deliver and maintain key communications documentation including communications plans and stakeholder engagements plans for the Adult Social Care Department overall as well as to support specific projects within the department in delivering their communications functions.

Develop communication, engagement materials and content, such as case studies to deliver on communications plans.

Support colleagues to plan and deliver communications and events (both internal and external) in line with communications plans and the Departments vision.

Work with key stakeholders, including residents, carers, partners and providers, and the voluntary sector to plan and develop events that are relevant and suitable for their intended audience.

Where appropriate matrix manage project teams/task and finish groups to deliver project outputs to time, budget and quality requirements.

Work with the Programme Managers to identify and manage risk in relation to change, communications, engagement and learning and development across the Department.

Manage and contribute to stakeholder engagement activities as required, ensuring that all plans take account of service user and carer co-design and co-production opportunities. This might also include developing consultation plans, presenting plans to internal and external stakeholders as required.

Work with a range of stakeholders, including residents and voluntary sector, to design, develop and distribute appropriate material.

Support partners, providers, and voluntary and community sector to help promote and signpost residents to adult social care services and community offers.

Prepare briefings and analysis for senior colleagues and elected members as required. Drafting, contributing to and editing briefings, board papers, reports, presentations and other documents as required.

Adhere to relevant guidelines and policies including style guides, standard operating procedures and the programme management toolkit. Contribute to the regular review and updating of the Adult Social Care programme management toolkit and documentation to enable continuous improvement, including lessons learned activities.

Actively seek a good understanding of adult social care and its challenges. Keep abreast of relevant legislation, guidance and best practice for the general work area.

Represent the Council in a professional manner in relation to their responsibilities and in ensuring their own continuing professional development.

Undertake other duties commensurate to the grade of the post.

Work flexibly in a matrix organisation and as part of a positive team with energy, creativity and determination. Working remotely as required.

Work closely with the corporate communications function, including the media and digital communications teams, to make sure Adult Social Care is front of mind, included in planning, and promoted throughout council communications channels.
