**Job summary**:
Data is an invaluable asset for our organisation. The Data Protection and Information Governance team has responsibility for ensuring that Social Security Scotland complies with its obligations under data protection, freedom of information and records management law and policy.

As a Data Governance Officer within our Data Management Office at Social Security Scotland, you will play a pivotal role in defining, refining, implementing, and ensuring the success of our Data Governance frameworks, policies, standards, and processes. These are essential for effectively managing our data as a valuable business asset.

**DDaT Pay Supplement**

**Job description**:

- Work on the design and implementation of practical data governance solutions to support Social Security Scotland needs
- Identify opportunities and make recommendations to improve the quality and trustworthiness of data throughout Social Security Scotland
- Implement and establish wider data management competencies within Social Security Scotland (such as data quality, metadata management, master data management, data modelling, and development of data standards and data strategy)
- Work within Social Security Scotland to minimise data risks and increase data literacy
- Work with the wider Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) and public sector data community to maintain awareness of developments in the establishment and use of common standards and approaches to data maturity

**Person specification**:

- 1. Experience of defining, developing and implementing effective Data Governance policies, processes and tooling for a medium to large scale organisation.
- 2. Ability to communicate and advocate the requirements and benefits of data governance policy and processes to technical and non-technical stakeholders, collaborating with them on continual improvements to meet their and the organisations needs.
- 3. Experience and knowledge of measuring data maturity across domains, identifying opportunities for improvement across the data life cycle.
- 4. Ability to raise awareness of the need for data literacy within an organisation and able to support data literacy development and training by enabling data consumers to understand what they can and cannot do with data.**Benefits**:
