Do you want to be the first port of call for those in mental health crisis?

We are a brand-new Mental Health Crisis Line telephony service for Kent and Medway Partnership Trust.

This role is pivotal in supporting and signposting service users to the help that they need.

It’s an exciting time to join us, our service is an integral part of the 111 NHS service as the mental health crisis line component.

We have Band 6 opportunities for full and part
- time roles to join our innovative and welcoming team. We are all office-based as a team in Canterbury Kent.

The role of the Mental Health Crisis line - GP referral Service is to offer support / sign posting to GP’s with an offer of completing a Mental Health telephone triage with the discussed client if required.

This is a critical role within the organisation as the first point of contact for GPs contacting secondary mental health care.

The GP referral line operates Monday - Friday 0800hrs - 2000hrs.

The Crisis Line operates 24 hrs per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year with a shift pattern of:
The By-pass line is the telephone liaison between KMPT, GP’s, UTC Clinicians, Paramedics on Scene and 111 clinicians ensuring a smooth pathway for the clients.

Answer telephone calls in an efficient, courteous, professional and non-judgemental manner.

Demonstrate the skills to professionally communicate information to users and carers regarding personal and social needs in an empathic and supportive way.

Ensure all callers receive the correct response by following the appropriate service policies and procedures.

Effectively manage caller’s expectations whilst providing correct and accurate information at all times.

Record all data accurately and update The Trusts electronic patient record accordingly.

Understand and appreciate the need to adapt when there are barriers to communication.

Take account of the cultural needs in communication with everyone, including work colleagues.

React constructively to changing circumstances and support colleagues to adapt to changing circumstances by good role modelling and being a positive change agent.

Support the Line Manger in ensuring that policy and policy changes are implemented across the Mental Health Crisis Line.
