Marketing Assistant

ZSEA (Zoological Society of East Anglia) is the charity which runs Banham Zoo and Africa Alive and is in an exciting period of change. Our mission is to connect communities to nature for conservation. To strengthen our commitment to conservation through collaborations, networking, and training activities to measurably improve local, national, and global biodiversity; To educate about nature, in nature, and for nature to foster engagement with the natural world; and to enable Africa Alive and Banham Zoo to empower people to make positive changes in their lives and local communities by promoting the connections between nature and well-being.
**Responsibilities**
**Digital Marketing**:
- Execute digital marketing campaigns targeted towards different customer profiles.
- Search Engine Optimisation on our website
**Direct Marketing to Schools and Corporates**:
- Execute direct marketing campaigns targeted towards schools and corporate clients.
**Direct Marketing with Campsites and Other Hospitality Venues**:
- Collaborate with campsite owners and other hospitality venues to promote the zoos.
**Direct Mail Marketing**:
- Execute direct mail campaigns targeting specific geographic areas or customer segments.
**Building and Segmenting Databases**:
- Develop and maintain databases of potential customers, schools, members, corporations, and other relevant contacts.
- Segment databases based on demographic, geographic, and behavioural data to tailor marketing communications.
- Regularly update and cleanse databases to ensure accuracy and compliance with data protection regulations.
The role may require some weekend and evening work to attend events and meetings, and occasional work outdoors to cover outdoor events and programmes.

**Responsibility for Resources**
**People**:
This role reports into the Head of Marketing, and works collaboratively across all departments.
The role has no direct reports.
**Financial Resources**:
The role has no budgetary responsibility however is expected to support the Head of Marketing in managing budgets through complying with budgetary expenditure systems and departmental sign off procedures.
**Confidentiality**:
The role will have access to sensitive commercial information and involves some processing of personal data which should be managed according to GDPR and ZSEA guidelines.
**Judgement and Decision Making**:
- To manage any issues that may arise by having contingency plans in place and reacting quickly.
- To juggle multiple priorities and make decisions regarding deadlines.
**Building relationships**:
Building and maintaining positive relationships across ZSEA and with third parties is critical to this role.
Relationship building will include effective persuasion, handling sensitive issues with diplomacy, negotiating. Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written will be required.

**Administration**:
- Proficient in handling administrative tasks such as scheduling, data entry, and file management.
- Ability to organise and prioritise tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
**Personable and Willing to Pick Up the Phone**:
- Ability to engage with clients, partners, and stakeholders in a friendly and approachable manner.
- Comfortable making outbound calls to follow up on marketing initiatives or inquiries.
**Attention to Detail**:
- Good attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all marketing materials and communications.
- Capable of proofreading and editing content for errors and consistency.
- Willing to listen, take instructions and execute more traditional marketing tactics.
**Digital Marketing**:
- Proficiency in Google PPC with hands-on experience.
- Familiarity with Google Grants for charity organisations is a plus.
- Competence in Meta Ad Manager with practical experience.
- Comfortable making outbound calls to follow up on marketing initiatives or inquiries.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of Webflow is considered a plus
- Experience and understanding of SEO techniques.
