Domestic Abuse Project Specialist

We are looking for someone who really cares about people and can approach the issues around domestic abuse in an empathetic and informed way. You will share our ambition to make our clients safer sooner by supporting a coordinated response to safeguarding complexities. You will understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and children. You will have a passion about the importance and the relevance of DAHA accreditation and how the Council can implement this. Previous project management in a Domestic Abuse or Housing arena will enable you to deliver the projects outcomes.
The role will require you to work across council services and partner organisations and we’re looking for someone who can self-manage and build positive relationships both inside and outside the Council. You will challenge how we do things and develop creative solutions.
**About this role**
We know that domestic abuse will affect one in four women during their lifetime and that this figure is likely to be much higher. Currently three women a week are killed by a former or current partner. Domestic abuse and violence against women and girls are some of the most pressing social issues of our time. We are committed to supporting survivors and tackling perpetrator behaviour across all our services and have an exciting opportunity to do just that.
You will work closely with services across the Council to lead the review of our services for survivors of Domestic Abuse and to deliver our Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) Accreditation process by the end of the contract. You will work within the housing team with frontline housing officers and managers to understand the complexity and challenges of Domestic Abuse in a rural District area. You will be responsible for reviewing and highlighting training needs across the Council including designing the more specialist and legal package of training for the housing team. You will also lead on our Multi agency work, MARAC and work closely with colleagues in SETDAB and Next Chapter to transform our response to those facing homeliness due to Domestic Abuse.
