**HR Employee Relations Advisor**

**About the Role**:
The Employee Relations (ER) Advisor role is essential to creating and maintaining a positive working relationship between the company and its people. You will be resolution-focused, providing commercially sound and robust first level advice on a broad range of ER issues, with an emphasis on the early resolution of cases, taking a restorative approach wherever possible.

You will generally act on your own initiative, analysing the facts and providing a range of options for consideration, identifying any associated risks, and will be comfortable engaging in challenging conversations.

The ability to travel across a wide geographical area as and when required is essential. You should note that public transport is rarely a viable option and the ability to drive is essential. A pool car will be made available as and when required.

**Main duties**:

- Partner line managers, providing trusted advice on a wide range of sensitive employee relations matters such as performance, absence, conflict resolution, flexible working, disciplinary action, terminations, grievances and other issues presenting risk to the organisation.
- Conduct investigations into disputes, grievances, and disciplinary allegations, including making findings, drafting reports, and delivering outcomes.
- Track and manage ER cases utilising strong and current knowledge of employment law and organisational policies/procedures to determine and present recommendations for resolution, which balance risk, fairness and organisational needs.
- Maintain ER case management records, coordinate ER administration and ensure adherence to privacy requirements.
- Provide accurate reporting on ER activity and regular updates on significant ER issues, trends and upcoming changes to employment legislation.
- Determine case trend root causes and provide relevant training, policy and process recommendations, mentoring leaders to address identified issues
- Facilitating ER workshops and training for managers to develop their employee relations knowledge and experience.
- Operate both locally and regionally to support all Head Office departments and operational branches with ER requirements and training.
- Champion people policies, procedures and tools to drive a consistent approach across the organisation and ensuring all policies and practices are in line with current legislation.
- Provide advice on contractual and legislative issues across the organization.
- Contribute to HR projects, which may include organisational changes or the development, communication and implementation of new policies, programs or initiatives.
- Assist the business in all aspects of change management including transfer of undertakings (TUPE) situations to ensure that change, where possible, is planned, managed and implemented in accordance with policies whilst enabling corporate objectives to be met.
- Obtain employee voice insights from working groups and staff forums, feeding back to the HR Business Partner and Senior Leaders to identify areas for change and to create a more positive working culture in the organisation.
- Work collaboratively with the wider HR team, including the HR Business Partner and Learning Team, to ensure best practice levels of information and knowledge sharing, delivery of a seamless integrated service and co-creation of solutions.
- Assist the HR Coordinators investigate and resolve queries for both HR and payroll matters. Communicating with various stakeholders on these matters.
- Review payroll instructions received, ensuring that starters, leavers and transferees are all processed correctly.
- Support the reconciliation of payroll data, carrying out relevant checks to ensure the highest standards of pay data quality.

**Education & Qualifications**
- CIPD Level 5 qualified or working toward, or relevant previous experience
- Commitment to ongoing personal development

**Experience and Knowledge**
- Working as an ER Advisor handling a broad range of ER cases, and delivering tangible and measurable outcomes
- Implementing and advising on a broad spectrum of HR policies with managers and employees
- Designing, delivering and implementing ER workshops and training programmes for managers at all levels
- Managing relationships with third party suppliers

**Skills and Ability**
- Actively listens and explores the root cause of queries from managers and employees, constructively challenging as necessary.
- Ability to foster strong, positive relationships both internally and externally that are professional and constructive
- Ability to handle very difficult or volatile situations or individuals effectively
- Ability to assess problems at an operational level and develop a range of business focused solutions
