We have an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of National Trust’s planning ecosystem at a time of strategic change, to align with the launch of our new strategy in 2025. Internally this role will be known as Planning Analyst.

The National Trust’s central Strategy Management Unit (SMU) exists to help the organisation make informed choices which are evidenced based and supported by understanding of our internal and external context. We provide expert support to the Executive Team and wider organisation in areas including strategy, performance, analysis, insight, research, data governance, project and programme management, and planning - which is the part this role will be involved with.

This is a full-time permanent role. We would be open to discussing flexible working with a minimum 30-hour week, and / or compressed hours to support a healthy work-life balance.

Salary: £35,724 (Grade 6), we are currently undertaking our pay review process and it is likely that this salary will be increased from 1st April 2024.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing:The role will include focus on:

- Providing support to the overall refresh of the Trust’s planning ecosystem and the relevant working groups established to examine different aspects of our planning process.
- Appropriate co-ordination between the working groups, forward scheduling of meetings and organisation of workshops.
- Assist with production of templates and guidance as they develop for long-term and medium-term planning.
- Help with drafting of appropriate paper submissions to the Strategy Programme Board and/or Executive Board.
- Working alongside the teams engaged on the Strategy Development Programme to ensure integration between planning and wider activities related to launching and implementing the new strategy.

For this position we’re looking for someone who has:

- Knowledge of National Trust planning processes, tracking, and monitoring systems and processes, and experience of providing required inputs to the right depth within deadlines.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills; proven process management and administrative ability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the presentation of data and reports in user-friendly formats; and the drafting of formal papers for governance purposes.
- Excellent people and influencing skills, enabling strong relationships to be built and maintained including for stakeholder management processes.
- Experience of working with the National Trust’s project framework, systems, and organisational structures, or similar in another organisation.
- Good understanding of change management processes.
