You will be responsible for the management and performance of the Business Partnering function provided to a portfolio of Operational Directorates.

The role will involve providing high quality financial leadership to the business partnering team, working closely alongside Chiefs of Service, Divisional Directors of Operations and Divisional Directors of Nursing to support delivery of the Trust objectives.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Director of Finance - Planning & Delivery, the post holder will be a key member of the Finance Team and support the Deputy DoF in ensuring that the use of resources is both understood and maximised. In addition the postholder will deputise for the Assistant Director of Finance, as appropriate, providing leadership and demonstrating expert accounting and business knowledge, analytical support and clear presentation of complex financial and other information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues. They will constructively and positively challenge all aspects of the financial and business performance of the Trust and local ICS.

This role will support with enhancing relationships between finance and clinical and non-clinical teams in financial performance management, use of resources, cost improvement development, financial planning and education.

The post holder will manage a team of accountants; ensuring the provision of effective partnering to a defined portfolio of divisions/directorates of the Trust; by ensuring that the teams are capable of and undertake to support and influence strategic and operational decisions.

1. Work as a key member of the senior team to develop the Annual
Business/Operational Plan for the Trust to achieve key performance targets and facilitate the delivery of Trust and ICS objectives.
2. Actively participate, with senior colleagues, in reviewing Trust and Divisional business plans to ensure value for money and consistency in approach.
3. Lead the development of the annual financial planning process, including
development of the ‘core gap’, identifying cost pressures and quantifying service
developments, ensuring consistency across the Trust.
4. Develop complex business models and scenario analyses to influence capacity management decisions consistent with internal, ICS and National targets and available resources and test planning assumptions.
5. Ensure that resultant plans reflect the triangulation of activity, workforce and finance principles, are aligned to the strategy and set the annual parameters of both planning and budget production. Provide support and advice on both financial and non-financial aspects of business plans to operational and finance staff.
6. Contribute to the annual budget setting process and contribute to the formulation of a Trust wide timetable and procedures to facilitate this.
7. When required, support in the development and advancement of key strategic programmes of work/projects linked to delivery of the vision and values of the Trust, including (but not limited to) ICS and acute alliance collaborations, productivity improvements, transformation schemes, targeted financial interventions and service improvements
