**About The Role**:
We are seeking an experienced National Talent Welfare Officer to join our team on a fixed term basis initially for one year working 21hours a week. The role will involve a flexible approach to working as the work may be Monday to Friday with national travel and some evening and weekend work attending camps or competitions as required. There will also be the requirement to attend the occasional team meeting at our SportPark Office in Loughborough.

This is an exciting opportunity working within a busy safeguarding & welfare team which sits within the wider Legal department. The purpose of the role is to support and oversee welfare in the Talent pathways and programmes and will cover all of our sports.

The role specifically involves working closely with athletes on the talent pathway at clubs and at events

Reporting to the Head of Legal, your responsibilities will include:

- On occasion taking the lead on welfare complaints and investigations, as required.
- Working with clubs, counties and regions to improve the identification of welfare complaints and the overall quality of welfare complaints
- Providing support and information to members and clubs on Swim England child safeguarding & welfare procedures and legislation, using the experience and expertise of the rest of the team
- Assisting with welfare training to Swim England teams, clubs and regions
- Supporting the implementation and communication of safeguarding & welfare plans and policies across the aquatic network
- Working directly with others to help communicate good welfare practices, procedures and training
- Inputting into the publication of Wavepower and all other welfare policies

**About You**:

- Have experience in a similar role
- Have experience of working with volunteers or voluntary organisations
- Have knowledge of Welfare in Sport, in particularly at elite and pathway level
- Be able to identify risk in a safeguarding and welfare context
- Be able to respond appropriately to a child welfare complaint and / or disclosure, considering the circumstances, audience and situation
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have excellent IT, literacy and numeracy skills

Previous experience of working at a similar level in organisations such as sports NGBs, local authority or charity organisations would be advantageous as is having experience of low level safeguarding investigations.
