Stoke on Trent City Council has a vital role to play in ensuring the City stays on the move, by maintaining and enhancing our road networks.

Reducing congestion is a key role for our Street Works Team. We need to increase our current dedicated Street works team’s capacity, so we are seeking three talented individuals who want to join us to support the delivery of our objectives through proactive coordination of road works and activities on the Cities roads.

You will be responsible for providing professional coordination advice and making complex decisions in the management of roadworks on our Highway network and assist the Street works Manager to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective licensing and enforcement process in relation to the highway legislation, such as the Highways Act 1980 and New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 etc.

Ensuring that all activities taking place on the highway are carried out in an appropriate and safe manner.

The post holder will need to be confident in dealing with internal and external stakeholders. These will include the Public, Local Councillors as well as works promoters and contractors.

With an accreditation in Street Works, you will have proven experience in dealing with traffic management and coordination issues and have a familiarity with reinstatement specifications.

You will also be well-organised with effective communication skills and an awareness of relevant legislation.

It is essential that as the team operates in a highly reactive work environment you are able to prioritise your own workload, work to tight deadlines, be methodical in your approach, use initiative and operate with minimum supervision.
