**Investigator - Antibody Immunogenicity Assessment**

Large Molecule Discovery is a department dedicated to the discovery of innovative biopharmaceutical medicines. This department comprises several complementary functions focused on the progression of a portfolio of biopharmaceuticals from initial antibody discovery, expression and characterisation to molecular engineering and biological and physicochemical profiling.

The successful applicant will join Antibody Pharmacology, who are a team of 20+ assay scientists, immunologists and biologists. They are accountable for functional assay design and mechanism of action characterisation to generate decision-making data that supports the discovery and development of antibody therapeutics from concept through to clinical testing. The team is an integral part of the antibody discovery process and are working in a range of therapeutic areas, including oncology, immunology, respiratory and infectious disease.

We are seeking a lab-based scientist with a background in immunology, pharmacology, biomedical sciences or other related disciplines. You will be enthusiastic, dynamic and self-motivated and will have a keen interest in a laboratory-based career. You will work with teams of scientists with diverse skills including protein biochemists, _in vitro_ and _ex vivo_ assay scientists, and molecular biologists as well as in close partnership with other parts of the GSK organisation. You will be designing and performing biological assays to assess the immunogenicity risk of biopharmaceuticals. The role will provide an exciting opportunity to work closely with functional experts at all stages of the drug development process.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Provide scientific leadership in immunogenicity risk assessment
- Design, qualify and execute immune cell-based assays to characterise the immunogenicity of biopharmaceuticals
- Oversee the selection and management of CROs to ensure high quality and timely delivery of sample analysis to support pre-clinical research projects
- Miniaturisation and automation of assays for use as part of antibody screening campaigns
- Work independently to analyse and interpret your and other’s data, providing clear recommendations to project teams based on a solid understanding of immunology
- Actively keep up to date on the immunogenicity assessment literature. Propose and implement new techniques as well as strategies and analyses that are in line with industry practices
- Work effectively cross-functional teams and demonstrate matrix management skills
- Effective recording and communication of your work in lab notebooks, lab reports and publishing/presenting both internally and externally
- Adhere to safety and other company rules and regulations, maintain lab equipment and reagents when appropriate

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- Graduate or post graduate degree in Immunology or other relevant Life Sciences;
- A track record of recent scientific success through relevant post degree experience in academic or industrial science;
- Independence and competence performing relevant biological research techniques (e.g. immunoassay, flow cytometry, cell culture, primary cell isolation, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability for assay design and a variety of data analysis methods including an understanding of statistics
- Can demonstrate scientific knowledge of the immunogenicity risk assessment of biopharmaceuticals
- Strong understanding of scientific research principles

**Preferred Qualifications & Skills**:
If you have some of the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

- Experience with immunological cellular assays, primary cells, and antibody research
- An understanding of the biopharmaceuticals discovery process, including antibodies, multispecifics, or cytokines
- Understanding of fundamental pharmacology principles and a familiarity with translational biology concepts
- Some experience with evaluating non-regulated assay performance/qualification

- High level of scientific rigor and integrity with attention to detail and excellent record keeping
