Health Safety Environment Assistant

**The Role**
Our QHSE team are fundamental to the success of our company, promoting a culture where safety always comes first, as well as ensuring systems are in place to provide assurance that quality, health and safety and environmental requirements are met.
The role holder will work in close collaboration with the QHSE Representative and Department Managers to assist in the development and implementation of health and safety and environmental compliance across the Company, including international locations.
HSE Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative support, including maintaining of ISO processes and documentation, office level Health and Safety support and control of the Documentation Management System.
The role holder should be capable of managing across multiple locations/department in order to achieve business compliance requirements.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Keep up to date and maintain a working knowledge of all relevant Health and Safety and Environment Legislation and Regulations.
- Assist in carrying out QHSE inductions for all new starters.
- Assist with investigations into any quality, health, safety, or environmental incidents.
- Work with teams across the business to risk assess activities and identify improvements.
- Provide assistance with ISO 14001 and 9001 inspections and maintain the legal risk and opportunity register, when new legal requirements are introduced.
- Develop, promote, improve and maintain sustainable operational work practices to reduce environmental impact.
- Carry out site observations and internal inspections as required to identify areas for opportunity and to perform waste, carbon management, energy efficiency assessments and energy monitoring inspections. Thereafter calculate the Company’s Carbon Footprint and provide solutions to reduce energy use.
- Effectively communicate in providing guidance and support on environmental, quality and waste management to managers and employees.
- Deliver formal training and presentations to relevant audiences on the results of process reviews with a view to implementing improvements to clients service needs and business procedures.
- Undertake any other activities and support as determined by line manager.
**Qualifications/Competencies**
- Experience in environmental and waste management best practice techniques.
- Knowledge of carbon management and Energy reduction.
- Knowledge of sourcing information on legal and statutory requirements.
- Ability to plan and organise work to meet objectives.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Computer literate -Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team or under own initiative.
- Ability to deliver training and presentations.
- Self-learner and interested in personal development.
- Flexible and adaptable to the needs of the business.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 30 per week
**Salary**: From £21,100.00 per year
