**JOB DESCRIPTION: Production Manager**

Envases UK, part of the privately owned Envases Group, are an internationally renowned manufacturer and supplier of specialist metal containers, serving a UK, European and US client base. Supplying into a range of Industrial and food industries, we have manufacturing capability from 125ml to 25 litre containers.

The company is currently looking for a Production Manager to lead the Production function using Lean principles ensuring we achieve KPI's and have a stringent cost control process. Drive manufacturing to exceed Customer expectations on Quality and delivery. Responsible for developing, influencing, and motivating the Production team. Look to lead by example and encourage flexibility and teamwork by building strong working relationships. Health & Safety and zero harm culture must be a priority. Manage and lead the team establishing "Best practice" and "Can do" attitude throughout Production imbedding a Continuous Improvement culture. Implement improvement initiatives by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes, by improving training, working practices and processes.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Management**:

- Lead Production, Print department & Quality (including performance management, people development & training, succession planning, appraisals, disciplinary actions in accordance with HR.
- Oversee manning hours in order to fulfil the production needs (shift devices), hiring temporary workers and scheduling training when necessary.
- Sets the main objectives of the departments.
- As a senior manager, takes part in business planning, ensuring a good and proactive communication approach with other department managers, and considering various strategic issues.
- Undertake any other reasonable task as required (competence permitting)

**Safety and quality procedures**:

- Ensures a Zero harm culture is implemented, ensure all staff comply with the safety, quality and hygiene rules in order to minimise the risk of any possible accident.

**Strategy and Development**
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice Production vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
- Identify business improvement opportunities within the organisation.

**Line efficiency / quality issues**:

- Ensures the actual output meets the planned target for both print and production.
- Ensure the target productivity level is achieved on a daily, weekly & monthly basis producing reports showing trends.
- Addresses the quality issues customers complaints in conjunction with the Quality Manager & facilitate RCA workshops.
- Monitors the Production & Print lines efficiency, implementing improvement plans as needed to control Output and Waste.
- Drive process improvements on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by appropriate data analysis.
- Works on continuous improvement according to the WCP standards and implements the relevant methodologies to improve (5S, Kaizen, Teamwork, Problem Solving RCA’s).

**Analysis and advising**:

- Analyse processes, procedures, results and needs, advises the General Manager on improvements and organises the implementation upon approval.
- Advises the Production Line Leaders/Print Supervisor on relevant actions to undertake in order to increase organisational and technical efficiency.

**Meetings and projects**:

- Leads & facilitates CI initiatives to improve Production Output, Waste, Quality, 5S etc. as requested.
- Leads a team meeting on a daily basis, providing the Production Line leaders & Print supervisor with regular and relevant feedback.
- Maintains collaboration with the Planning Manager through a weekly commitment meeting.
- Holds regular performance meetings with Line Leaders and Print Supervisor in order to provide regular and relevant feedback.
- Attends daily, weekly and monthly meetings providing feedback where required.
- Implements and attends other meetings when relevant.

**Resource & People management**:

- Ensure the delivery of the People Strategy within area of accountability.
- Lead, coach & mentor a high performing Production team that meets agreed objectives.
- Set department objectives/KPls and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
- Manage and lead team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues and daily supervision to maximise efficient productivity.
- Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record on appropriate systems.
- Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPls) for each area of responsibility as agreed with the GM.
- Ensure cover in place for self & Print Supervisor during absences.
- Approve and book holidays in Time and Attendance system.
