This is an opportunity to join a developing innovative task force as part of a national project to work with young people who attend alternative educational provision as part of the secondary pupil referral unit in Manchester. The post holder will sit within Manchester Secondary Pupil Referral Unit multi-agency taskforce 3 days per week and 2 days per week with Duty and Assessment team in Central Manchester CAMHS based at the Winnicott Centre.

As a senior CAMHS practitioner the post holder will be highly skilled in engaging young people to complete comprehensive CAMHS assessments/interventions and offering support to overcoming barriers to accessing CAMHS. Assessments and interventions are provided in a variety of settings across the city and full support is given by the task force coordinator and the other team members based at the PRU which include youth justice, educational psychology, complex safeguarding social worker and SALT.

They will provide a range of high quality interventions appropriate to the child or young person’s needs which will include; mental state assessment, risk assessment and management, family and social assessment, consultation, evidence based interventions. The post holder will have a range of skills and knowledge base to deliver clinical aspects of the role in a multi-disciplinary team setting and will be competent to do this work as an autonomous practitioner within professional practice guidelines. This post entails teaching and supervisory duties to other professionals and junior staff and/or students and regular consultation to the wider children’s service. The post holder is also expected to promote and develop partnerships and interface with other professionals and agencies that work within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health THRIVE Framework.

This post is a clinical post and the expectation of time management is the majority of time spent in clinical practice.

This post is a clinical post and the expectation of time management is the majority of time spent in clinical practice, with flexibility to travel across the city as part of the PRU outreach approach to engaging young people and families.
