Here at Dunelm, our Finance teams supports our trading teams to make the best commercial decisions, collates customer transactions, balances the books, and manages procurement. We also analyse financial data to identify patterns, trends and opportunities that we can use to help us grow. The team is a group of around 80 colleagues, which is small enough to enable roles to be broad but at the same time large enough to offer ample opportunities for development into new areas.

**The Role**

Working in the Finance Operations Team, the Finance Operations Team Leader is a role offering direct support to the Finance Operations functions (Stock or Non-Stock). The Finance Operations Team Leader will have a continuous improvement mindset, having the confidence to handle queries head on and make the right decisions to support the team and the business. Day-to-day line management of the team, ensuring that all activity is covered and is produced to a high standard and in a timely manner. A key element of the role is reviewing work produced by the team to identify gaps in controls or procedures and finding ways to help improve our ways of working

**About You**
- Line manage a team of Finance Operations Assistants, carrying out all People responsibilities.
- Provide support to develop team members, including regular 1:1s and progress conversations.
- Support, action, and monitor weekly vendor payment runs in line with standard schedule in line with business requirements.
- Report cashflow for the business to a high level of accuracy to support business decisions.
- Review supplier statement reconciliations and aged debtor/creditor analysis on a monthly basis.
- Ensure that ledgers are accurately controlled, with the timely and robust reconciliation of all control accounts (including investigation and correlation of variances), so that the financial position of the organisation can be determined accurately at any time
- Additional ad hoc tasks
- Respond to internal and external stakeholder queries and escalations as required.
- Post journals and reviewing postings made by team members for accuracy.
- Review current processes and identifying areas of improvement, to ensure efficiencies are made or controls strengthened.
- Support with development projects across the Finance Operations Team.
- Complete business reporting within the team to give timely information about performance.
- Carry out the responsibilities of the Finance Operations Assistants for the purposes of cover etc.

**Essential Skills**
- Ability to line manage a high performing team. Demonstrable evidence of acting in a lead role.
- Financial acumen, including a sound knowledge of basic accounting principles and of effective financial controls.
- Excellent analytical abilities, and able to work with a high level of diligence.
- Ability to own and drive process improvement and efficiencies.
- Willingness to take opportunities for self development.
- Strong stakeholder management abilities.
- Self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative.
- Confidence to challenge the status quo, whilst considering wider business impact of decisions.
- Excellent customer focus, with emphasis on a “right first time” approach to work.

**Desirable Skills**
- Previous line management experience, preferably in a Finance setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel.
- Competent in the use of ERP systems, particularly SAP.
- Not restricted to but preferably 2-3 years of experience within an Accounts Payable Team or general accounting background.
- Actively seeks to improve processes and controls within own area, and across Finance as a whole.
- Desire to learn and develop own skills to support the team.
- Able to coach a team, recognise strengths and development areas and seeks ways to get the best out of others
