Overview:
GB Railfreight are a growing rail company with an exciting future

The Load Standards Assessor will contribute to our success by managing the compliance, training and assessment requirements of the loading processes for various commodities including Intermodal, MOD, Bulk and Network Rail, ensuring that risks are identified and managed.

This role will investigate incidents relating to loading activities and will monitor loading-related actions and KPIs. You will implement a regime of checks, undertaking audits and monitoring visits to operational sites, ensuring compliance with GB Railfreight’s Loading Standards at all times.

Recommendations to the Head of Training and Standards will be crucial to mitigating risks and ensuring industry leading standards therefore strong report writing skills are essential. Great communication skills are also key to promoting safety best practice within the team.

This role will be based in our Peterborough office, to be considered you must demonstrate a good knowledge of rail operations and experience of loading/unloading in a safety critical environment.

**Responsibilities**:

- Undertake site inspections of locations where services are loaded and unloaded, documenting the findings, and raising actions where required.
- Ensure that systems are in place to manage the risks imported by loading processes, and auditing these processes as required, and reporting the findings.
- Carry out audits and spot checks to the systems that support the training,
- Assess ongoing competence management of all staff who perform loading activities, ensuring both competence and capability are robust and reduce risk to as low as reasonably practicable.
- Undertake incident and accident investigations relating to loading activities, as required.
- Conduct audits of external organisations that are contracted to provide loading services to GB Railfreight.
- Maintain communications with all staff to ensure that they fully understand the performance and safety behavioral standards required to deliver the service in regards to loading and unloading activities.
- Undertake loading-related training and assessments, where required.
- Meet KPIs in relation to the accurate and timely production of internal investigation reports regarding loading and unloading activities.
- Undertake site inspections of locations where services are loaded and unloaded, clearly documenting the findings and actions generated, and ensuring all locations and commodities are covered periodically.
- Completion of loading-related training and assessments in line with business requirements and standards.

Qualifications:
Skills and Experience

**Essential**
- Experience and knowledge of loading and unloading activities.
- Personal Track Safety (PTS) competence.
- GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or above (or equivalent).
- Incident Investigation competence.
- Underpinning knowledge of rail operations.
- Assessing and Training Competence.

**Desirable**
- Institute of Occupation Safety and Health (IOSH).
- Previous Rail Loading Competence.
- Occupational and Operational Experience on the railway.
- Auditing Experience.
- Underpinning knowledge of loading activities on UK rail network.
- Basic understanding of Coruson and TOPS.

**Personal Profile**
- Ability to challenge any unsafe working practices.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Report writing skills - ability to submit clear and precise reports and recommendations regarding site inspections, assessments and investigations.
- Ability to provide regular, clear updates on performance against objectives.
- Clean UK Driving license.
- Flexible and willing to travel within the UK.
