This post is to provide a clinical service in Orthopaedics at CT1/2 level, working closely with the Consultants, Specialist Registrars, and Foundation Doctors. The post will include a 1:14 on-call commitment for emergency admissions.

There is a comprehensive training programme with daily educational trauma meetings, and additional scheduled radiology and orthopaedic teaching, as well as the trust wide induction and training programs. There are annual formal appraisals. There are weekly Orthopaedic/Journal Club Meetings/ Radiology Meetings/MDTs and a monthly Research Meeting here is formal training on Wednesday afternoons as part of the Regional Training in General Surgery. The appointee will be expected to participate in Clinical Audit.

The post holder is required to hold current Registration with the General Medical Council on commencement. The post holder will be required to demonstrate their ability to perform cardio pulmonary resuscitation and undergo further training in this area if deemed necessary.

The junior doctors are exposed to the conservative and surgical management inpatient and outpatient setting. They are actively involved in the direct clinical care of patients admitted under the orthopaedic consultants for emergency and elective surgery. Attendance at clinics and operating sessions for both elective and emergency work is essential.
