Perth, United Kingdom SSE Full time

**About the Role**:
**Base Location**: Perth

**Salary**: £31,339 - £35,892 + Shift Allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

**Working Pattern**: Permanent | Full Time

As an Incident Controller, you will be responsible for the effective management of network incidents and the efficient despatch of operational teams working on our HV and LV networks across the North of Scotland. The Distribution Control Centre ensures 24-hour coverage for any incidents that occur on our distribution system, including the management of field teams, escalation of serious occurrences, and post-event reporting of all incidents.

Working as part of our Distribution Control Centre, you will work as part of a critical team, on a 24/7 rota, operating as a key link between our Control Centre teams and operational staff. As part of the Distribution Control Centre team, you will also be expected to assist during severe weather or large-scale events, which may require a level of additional response over normal business commitments.

In this role, you will:

- Be expected to utilise your knowledge, and the operational systems available to you, to ensure a safe environment for our staff and customers.
- Be required to concentrate, especially during periods of intense activity, remaining focused for long periods.
- Answer emergency calls, making decisions within guidelines, and taking the relevant action to deal with the call appropriately.
- Take ownership of various reporting functions, including regulatory fault reports and safety escalations.
- Work calmly and effectively when dealing with emergencies, communicating clearly and concisely, and retaining an exceptional level of customer service when dealing with staff over the phone and in the office.

**To be considered for this role, we would love you to have**:

- A sound understanding of the electrical system at Distribution voltages and an awareness of the key stakeholders throughout the electricity industry.
- The ability to evaluate a situation under pressure using good judgment skills and effective decision-making, whilst communicating effectively between multiple interested parties.
- The ability to work well under pressure, whilst retaining an organized approach to your work and supporting others as part of a skilled team.
- A high level of attention to detail, a thirst for knowledge, and a high level of IT proficiency across multiple systems. An understanding of the systems used within a Control Centre environment would be advantageous but not essential.
- the ability to adapt to changing workloads positively without compromising key responsibilities, aligned with maintaining a positive safety and wellbeing culture, and a high degree of professionalism and self-awareness.
- An emergency dispatch or a utility operations background is highly desirable
