- An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time permanent Stronger Communities Officer which will work as part of the Communities Team. This role will have a focus on supporting families/residents when everyday issues become difficult and also identifying and responding to needs and vulnerability at a local level.
- We are looking to fill a permanent post and will be based in the East Area. As part of this role the officer will operate frontline in a geographic location. There may be a requirement to work across other sites in the borough dependent on service delivery needs.
- The Communities Teams manage all age casework, respond proactively and tackle issues that affect both people and place in an integrated neighbourhood management approach. Day to day officer’s work in an embedded partnership arrangement working holistically with key partners, therefore it is important that the post holder has a good knowledge of this work.
- The post holder will play a key part in supporting and delivering building resilience in communities and build stronger communities. They will support the coordination and delivery of the Stronger Families programme working with families to address their needs.
- The post holder will be a key player in Early Intervention and Prevention projects which involves tackling Anti-Social Behaviour at a local level including both enforcement and education working in partnership with South Yorkshire Police and other partners both external and internal. As well as tackling anti-social behaviour the post holder will have a good knowledge of how to progress casework for anti-social behaviour, stronger families and wellbeing and support vulnerable and repeat victims of anti-social behaviour, hate crime and crime using an holistic outcomes based approach.
- In addition, through the wellbeing offer, the Stronger Communities Area Teams work to support all individuals prior to any assessed level of adult social care needs. We strive to enable people to access local services, drive innovation around the community offer and enable residents to live independently in their own homes longer and reduce the need for costly services.
- To achieve this the area teams work with local groups and volunteers to build capacity in the ward and help community groups and vol com sector to fill gaps in service delivery at the appropriate level. We operate and support community led support hubs across the borough in order to drive and achieve our model of strength based community led support.
- Experience of working with multiple partners
- Experience of working in a community safety partnership and a sound understanding of the Crime and Policing act 2014
- Early intervention experience with families and individuals, focusing on prevention and strength based solutions to reduce escalation to costly services.
- Able to provide a service around advice, guidance and allocation of cases with a sound operational understanding of end-to-end casework.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of national and local legislation in particular the Government led Troubles families programme known locally in Doncaster as the Stronger families programme
- Proven ability to train, develop and up skilling of officers and wider partners, which will be key in the work the triage team will undertake around the Stronger Families programme.
- Knowledge of assets based community development approaches and how to build on these for positive outcomes in a local area
- Strong performance management
- Good judgement, strong analytical skills and ability to use data and information intelligently and innovatively.
