**Job overview**:
The Pre-operative assessment at The Royal Oldham hospital holds clinics for many different specialities. We are looking to recruit a band 3 senior support worker working 24hrs per week who will be providing clinical support to assist registered nurses in the assessment, planning and delivery of care to patients. A flexible shift pattern is available however due to the need of the service the finish time can be no earlier than 17:00pm.

The department provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills and knowledge across a variety of specialities as you are expected to work across all areas under direct supervision from registered members of staff.

After appropriate training you will undertake Physiological observations, 12 lead ECG recording, venepuncture and MRSA/ COVD19 screening and accurately record findings and refer information on to the trained nurse

- NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship - or equivalent experience
- Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
- Care Certificate

**Skills & Abilities**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Venepuncture
- ECG recording
- Physiological observations
- Good communication (written and verbal skills)
- Basic IT skills
- Good organisational skills

**Knowledge, Training & Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Experience of working as a Care Support Worker or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting
- Experience of working within a team

**Desirable criteria**:

- Previous pre-operative assessment experience
- Demonstrates an interest or previous experience in supporting other health care staff and learners
- Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD)
