**Your Career Matters**
The Level 6 Digital & Technology Solutions Professional scheme is designed to enable you to provide technology enabled solutions to internal and/or external customers, in a range of areas including software, business and systems analysis, cyber security, data analysis and network infrastructure. You will be learn how to implement technology solutions that enable businesses to develop new products and services and to increase your organisations productivity using digital technologies. You will be confident, competent and a capable independent Technology Solutions Professionals able to operate in a range of related roles. The occupation is based upon a core set of outcomes that will be supplemented by a specialist area. These specialist areas are listed below.
**Overview**
Your starting salary will be competitive and the scheme lasts for two years.
The duration of the scheme is 3 years with opportunities for rotations around the region at certain points. You will be based in York or London

We are looking for people who have demonstrated that they have mastered basic business disciplines, ethics and courtesies, demonstrating timeliness and focus when faced with distractions and the ability to complete tasks to a deadline with high quality. You should also have a flexible attitude wuth the ability to perform under pressure. To succeed on the scheme you will have a thorough approach to your work and be a logical thinker with a creative approach to problem solving.

**What you’ll be doing**
You will learn many core skills that will enable you to perform the role competently, including: IT Project Management, Cyber Security, Systems Development, Information Systems, Data, Business Organisation and Computer & Network Infrastructure. You will also know and understand the Technical Skills required, including:
- How business exploits technology solutions for competitive advantage.
- The value of technology investments and how to formulate a business case for a new technology solution, including estimation of both costs and benefits.
- Contemporary techniques for design, developing, testing, correcting, deploying and documenting software systems from specifications, using agreed standards and tools.
- How teams work effectively to produce technology solutions.
- The role of data management systems in managing organisational data and information.
- Common vulnerabilities in computer networks including unsecure coding and unprotected networks.
- The various roles, functions and activities related to technology solutions within an organisation.
- How strategic decisions are made concerning acquiring technology solutions resources and capabilities including the ability to evaluate the different sourcing options.
- How to deliver a technology solutions project accurately consistent with business needs.
- The issues of quality, cost and time for projects, including contractual obligations and resource constraints.
In addition to this core knowledge, you will operate in **one** specific specialist area during the apprenticeship. You will combine the core knowledge and skills with the specialist skills in order to perform well in the role. The specialist areas are:
**- Software Engineer**
**- IT consultant**
**- Business analyst**
**- Cyber Security Specialist**
**- Data analyst**
**- Network Engineer**

**The opportunities it leads to**
This is an outstanding scheme that gives you a thorough understanding of the Digital & Technology industry and how this is used in Rail disciplines. A natural progression upon completion of the scheme would be to move into either an Assistant Project Engineer position within Network Rail. These roles come with a starting salary of circa £29,000. Progression from here would then be to a Project Engineer role. We also have Senior Project Engineer positions and Project Delivery Engineering Managers that come with competitive salaries in the industry. Network Rail offers a wide range of careers and some skills you acquire from the apprenticeship will be transferrable to other disciplines and professions - we will aim to aid your career development throughout your time with us.
