**ABOUT THE POST**

In 2016, community members and the Concrete Garden team worked together to design and build Possilparks’ first outdoor Natural Playground. The playground has been a huge success with more than 1400 children attending over the last year. This post will form part of a dedicated team of Outdoor Play and Learning Youth Workers who will enrich and expand outdoor child led play and learning in our community. We deliver sessions in our Natural Playground at The Back Garden or through outreach sessions in community green spaces and trips/excursions.

Sessional youth work staff will deliver play alongside our core outdoor play team (term time). Play sessions are after school or over the weekend. With an increase in daytime, evening, and weekend sessions over the school holidays. Shifts vary between 3-7 hours. Our session pool staff are called on to provide cover for core staff, or to support us facilitate additional weekend/school holiday play sessions. There are no fixed hours - sessions will be offered as and when we have work available.

Post holders’ responsibilities will primarily be to co-ordinate and facilitate outdoor play and fun for children aged 0-17 (primarily 7-12). Further to this, at the request of the children who use the play area, post holders will support them to realize their ambition to cook and eat together at each session and design and build new playful structures or bring other new ideas to life. Post holders will also coordinate and facilitate online play and communication at times where individual or group physical play delivery is not possible.

Outdoor Play and Learning is all about playing outdoors, but you will also find yourself involved in supporting children to cook and eat together at sessions, build fires, make dens, climb trees or use the nature around them to create art or design and build new playful structures. All post holders will be expected to respond interchangeably within roles while supporting each other to play to their strengths. Play Youth Workers will hold an overall engagement role and will have an area of interest which they develop in a child-led manner. All post holders will be expected to respond interchangeably within roles while supporting each other to play to their strengths.

Food/cookery/growing: making sure the children have access to healthy and tasty food during a session. For some sessions this is just a snack, and other sessions this is a hot meal.
