We have a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and experienced trainer to join our team, helping to develop the way we work with the community and each other. It will be an exciting and challenging role with plenty of opportunity to contribute and participate in the development of a key delivery for Torbay. Having won Most Improved Council of the Year, at the local Government Chronicle Awards in 2023, our next step is to become a Relational Council, putting people, customers and partners at the heart of all that we do.

You will be based in Children’s Services Learning Academy working across the council to make sure that our people are trained in the relational way of working. Relational Practice describes a way of being. It is, an underpinning ethos, which enables us to build and maintain healthy relationships, resolve difficulties, and repair harm when relationships breakdown. This is a progressive cultural new direction for Torbay Council and you would be key to helping shape our journey through the successful designing and delivery of our relational training.

To be successful in this role we are seeking a confident and experienced trainer who can develop and deliver our inhouse restorative and relational training programme and events and to support the ongoing development of our workforce and partner agencies.

You will need excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills and have an enthusiasm and passion for training. With significant involvement from our Relational Practice Lead, this role will allow you to make hands on contribution, whilst having the support of a committed and professional project team.

**Interviews are expected to be conducted during the week commencing 15th April 2024.**

**Skills**:
Essential:

- Working restoratively and relational to develop good relationships.
- High level of communication skills in group and individual settings.
- Ability to give constructive feedback, challenge appropriately and identify areas for development in others.
- Training and facilitation skills including utilising a range of tools and methods.
- Have demonstrable experience of working to complete objectives/targets through independent working and problem-solving skills.

**As this post meets the requirements of the Immigration Act 2016 (part 7), the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.**

**Knowledge**:
Essential:

- Theoretical knowledge of restorative practice and trauma informed principles and standards as set out by relevant frameworks such as the Restorative Justice Council or a willingness to learn.
- In-depth knowledge of differing learning styles and teaching methods.
- Practical training programme development and knowledge of execution to deliver training to tailored audiences.

**Experience & Qualifications**:
Essential:

- Level 4 or 5 NVQ Qualification in in Training or Social Care, Health, Education, Children and Youth Work, Probation or Criminal Justice or significant equivalent experience.
- Educated to GGSE standard.
- Experience of working in a Training/Learning and Development role.
- Facilitating learning and delivering training.
- Designing and delivering training and learning events in person and on a virtual platform.
