Additional investment has created exciting new positions for two permanent Band 6 Children's Speech and Language Therapists to join our friendly, innovative team in Oldham.
Working as part of an integrated team, you will expand your skillset, experience working with children with a range of SLCN across mainstream schools and preschool settings and make a big difference to our children, young people and families. You will have the opportunity to work with a multilingual population alongside interpreters and bilingual co-workers and work with families, schools, preschools and professionals providing functional targets and high-quality care for children and families.
We are looking for an excellent communicator who is motivated and enthusiastic with highly developed clinical skills and a passion for delivering high quality care at the heart of the community.

You must hold a relevant undergraduate or masters degree in Speech & Language Therapy and be registered to practice with HCPC.

**Main duties of the job**:
You will:

- Enthusiastically provide a speech and language service to children across Oldham
- Assess, diagnose, develop, and implement speech and language therapy packages of care.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a co-ordinated care plan, based on best practice/evidence.
- Organise and manage a caseload with support from your manager, with opportunities to shadow colleagues and attend specific pathway meetings.
- Work with children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs including developmental language disorders, and language disorders associated with conditions such as neuro-developmental disorder ( e.g. ASC ).
- Demonstrate clinical effectiveness using evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
- Provide clinical advice to parents/carers, school staff and other professionals regarding the management and care of children with communication difficulties.
- Work alongside education, local authority and early years partners, supporting a graduated approach to helping children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Build skills in the wider workforce which will have positive intervention outcomes.

- Relevant experience at undergraduate/post graduate level
- Qualified and registered speech and language therapist
- Implementation of evidence-based interventions
- Experience of assessment for a wide range of children's speech, language and communication needs
- Health Professions Council - Licence to Practice
- Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
- Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience of writing and delivering training packages
- Experience of supporting/leading other members of staff and students
- Relevant experience of managing caseload independently
- Demonstrates good skills in negotiation and managing conflict
- Registered Member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapist
- Relevant Band 6 experience
