An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Psychiatry Liaison Service at Luton & Dunstable University hospital provided by East London Foundation Trust (ELFT).

The department of Liaison Psychiatry is looking to recruit band 6 1WTE Psychiatric Liaison Practitioner to join Acute Liaison Psychiatry Service.

The post holder will work in partnership with the Operational Manager, nurse colleagues, consultant psychiatrists and medical colleagues to provide high quality clinical assessment and mental health care to the patient at Luton & Dunstable General hospital. The post holder will work at part of the MDT reporting to the Operations Manager. As a practitioner you will participate in service development and maintaining standards of mental health service provision to Luton & Dunstable University hospital. Various shift patterns available including long days. You will be expected to do ALL shifts.

Provide a single multidisciplinary mental health and drug assessment service

Provide expert advice on the management, treatment and diagnosis of patients to acute hospital clinicians

Provide support to acute hospital clinicians

Provide training to acute hospital clinicians

To improve health outcomes for patients

To reduce length of stay for patients

To reduce readmissions to the Emergency Department

To reduce re-attendances to the Emergency Department

To improve the experience of patients who receive care in the acute hospital

To reduce direct admissions to care homes

To improve Luton & Dunstable Hospital staff awareness, skills and knowledge in mental health and drugs and alcohol
