Applications are invited from an enthusiastic, highly motivated and suitably qualified individual for this key position within the Pathology department at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT).

Applicants will have highly developed and demonstrable Quality Management, Clinical Governance and Risk Management skills and have at least 5 years’ experience working in a busy pathology laboratory. In addition the applicant will demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills.

This aligns closely with the need to develop system wide Sustainability and Transformation plans to achieve greater efficiency and productivity opportunities.

Pathology services at EKHUFT are within the Kent and Medway Pathology Network (South 8) and are in discussion regarding transforming pathology services for the future.
- Direct and lead the team charged with the design, implementation, management, and continual development of the laboratory quality system.
- Provide specialist knowledge so as to ensure the Trust’s pathology services (Cellular Pathology including Mortuary, Clinical Biochemistry & Immunology, Haematology & Blood Transfusion, Haemophilia, Phlebotomy and Microbiology) become progressively more effective in the delivery of a quality pathology service.
- Be the responsible officer for all aspects of quality, standards and governance within pathology
- Secure compliance with internal policies and external bodies
- Act as the responsible officer for provision of all departmental policies and procedures
- Act as the risk manager for pathology
- Provide training in quality management
