Overview:
John Bean Technologies Corporation (JBT) is a leading global technology solutions provider to high-value segments of the air transportation industries. They design, manufacture, test and service technologically sophisticated systems and products for their customers.
**Buyer** is a key role within the Supply Chain Department, working closely with suppliers to achieve the requirements of the business. This is a multi-disciplined role, with responsibilities spanning through sourcing, purchasing, project management, supply chain performance (including supplier quality), and part planning, within a predominantly project orientated manufacturing environment.

**Responsibilities**:

- Supply Chain Selection - Perform the activities and processes that provide best option selection based upon a balanced view of total cost of ownership, delivery performance and quality performance, alongside risk identification and mitigation.
- Supply Chain Negotiations - Set budgetary targets, negotiate and agree terms and conditions of supply which adhere to the specifications from the customer, or the design authority and are in line with statutory and/or company policy to provide a world class service to our internal/external customers.
- Supply Chain Performance - Set and monitor the total performance of the supply chain for quality, quantity and adherence to requirements to identify areas for improvement.
- Supply Chain Development - Establish and set improvement plans which will target the total process for the supplier so that improvements to processes can cascade down through the supply chain, resulting in increased profitability and competitiveness.
- Project Management - Manage and communicate projects to potential or existing suppliers when introducing any changes the current parts or new products/technical developments or new processes to continually improve the total cost of supply.
- Product/Engineering Developments - Analyse, review and report upon developments within the supply chain/engineering fields that can be applied to the supply chain, and which will enhance the commercial or strategic advantage to the company.
- Systems - Maintain the information systems, implement changes that will simplify procedures, eliminate inaccuracies and reduce discrepancies.
- Take part in Continuous Improvement Activities across the organisation
- Ensure that at all times the company’s Health and Safety, Quality, Environment Policies are promoted and adhered to and that all appropriate paperwork and procedures are observed and followed.
- Manage and maintain effective housekeeping practices.
- Promote and adhere to JBT Core Values

Qualifications:

- CIPS Qualification or the equivalent in a Supply Chain Discipline
- A fundamental understanding and experience of end to end supplier sourcing, management and performance development
- Previous experience working in an expansive buying role, working with cost reduction programmes and continuous improvement techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate with local and international colleagues
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment, with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as enjoy being part of a team
- Flexible attitude to both working hours, location and workload
- Computer literate with extensive to advanced knowledge of MS Excel
- Experience of working in a production/manufacturing environment preferred but not essential
