Oncology Administration Assistant, Band 3, up to 22.5 hours at Cumberland Infirmary

The Acute Oncology Service supports the management of patients with acute complications from their cancer diagnosis, patients with acute complications from their cancer treatment and patients who present as an emergency with a suspected but undiagnosed cancer.

This role offers an opportunity to become part of the Acute Oncology Service team working within the Advanced Clinical practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Cancer Care Coordinator.

This post will be an integral part of the Acute Oncology Service and support the Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialists administratively to deliver and maintain high quality cancer care within Cancer Services.

Provide efficient administration and effective support to the Acute Oncology Service Nursing Team, assisting in the smooth running of the service. Initiate tasks and prioritise work under the guidance of the team.

You will have regular contact with patients suffering from cancer and you will be expected to support and signpost patients over the telephone and ensure effective progress along their care pathway in liaison with other colleagues and departments as appropriate.

You will have both patient facing duties (including meeting and greeting patients; making appointments and dealing with general enquiries); administrative tasks; sending letters and taking minutes at different meetings) as well as other tasks around the departments.
