Harvest Retail is part of the PRAX Group, one of the UK’s largest independent oil companies specialising in fuel trading, storage and distribution across the globe. Harvest Energy have an ambition to grow into one of the UK’s most recognised forecourt retailersdelivering high quality fuels, outstanding standards with a focus on site presentation and overall customer service.

The Job holder has overall operations management responsibility and accountability for between 10 and 14 company owned service stations operating as Commercial Operated, Un-Manned or Direct Managed sites. The role is primarily focused on managing a teamof store managers, driving sales, delivering continuously improved site standards and providing warm and friendly customer service whilst adhering to Health & Safety compliance and company operating procedures.

**Principal Responsibilities**

Managing an AREA of branded Service Stations with average fuel sales of 3MLPA per site and shop sales from £12,000 to £40,000 per site per week. In addition, managing the backcourt facility to ensure operational compliance.
- Managing business KPI’s including shop sales, customer service & standards.
- Audit standards by site including Wet Stock and Dry Stock Loss.
- Delivering continuous improvement for customer Service Standards and coaching improvement of Mystery Motorist results.
- Overall Revenue and EBITDA performance.
- Full accountability for Area P&L result management.
- To develop a team of operators and retail business managers with the skillset to achieve revenue in line with company strategy - focus on site specific sales and margin growth, and critical cost control, in line with company objectives and targets.
- Responsibility for achieving fuel, shop and wash sales and net margin targets, as well as wet stock, shop stock, and cash management operating KPI’s where appropriate.
- To monitor and manage health & safety, legal and compliance targets ensuring they are met in line with company policy e.g. HSEQ, HR, fuel and shop stock, and cash.
- To achieve 'outstanding’ standards of overall site operation, including compliance to shop format, planograms and promotions) and customer service, 24/7.
- To line manage a team of Retail Store Managers and support their development and overall performance.
- To manage our food to go units focussing on legal compliance, Health and Food safety and general sales growth. Line managing the unit managers and developing a sustainable culture of gold star customer service.
- To manage and oversee each of the area’s store payroll in line with budget, challenge bad practice, manage poor performance and celebrate success.
- To line manage Retail Store Managers and Food to Go Managers performance in line with business expectation.

**General**
- To provide coaching support and training as required to Store Managers through tailored workshops or individual training/coaching sessions as required.
- To work with the Audit Manager on investigations as required.
- To take on any other projects at a senior level as requested by the Retail Management team.
- To work with the HR team to ensure legal compliance and to support Grievance and disciplinary activity as required.

**Stakeholder Management**

This is a multifaceted role and as such the individual Area Manager will be expected to liaise, report and support colleagues at various levels throughout the organisation including: Shop & Store Managers, Retail Auditor, the Head of Retail, Human ResourceBusiness Partner and other functional Heads including the Head of Health & Safety and the Head of Risk & Assurance.

**Experience, Knowledge, training & qualifications**
- Relevant Retail Management experience in Fuel convenience is preferred or equivalent retail qualifications and big box retail experience.
- An in-depth knowledge of Shop & Store operations including till operations and financial systems ideally gained in a FMCG environment
- A detailed understanding of Retail Manuals and associated policies is essential.
- Extensive Retail experience ideally gained in a Shop or Store Manager Role, Regional Support Manager or Area Manager role.
- Experience of training and supporting colleagues to deliver improved continuous and improved performance.

- Robust, determined, inquisitive nature with a willingness to go the extra mile to resolve issues
- Ability to cope with and resolve conflict and be confident in holding difficult situations.
- Strong communication skills, oral and written.
- Good analytical and numeracy skills.
- Demonstrates a can-do attitude to deliver results and improvements for the benefit of the Retail business.
- Effective IT skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) to facilitate effective communication and reporting
- A willingness to undertake relevant training to support their continual personal performance and development as an Area Manager
- Driver Licence and willingness to travel extensively and to stay overnight away from home potentially on a regular basis.
- Drive and determination to resolve with HR support, all people related ER & HR related activity.
