**External Communications Officer**

**Location**:Hybrid (2-3 days from Manchester, remainder WFH)

**As a External Communications Manager your main responsibilities will be**:

- To devise, deliver and implement the project communications strategy that enables the delivery of the objectives contained in Network Rail’s corporate communication strategy.
- To produce communications plan, detailing activities and resources necessary for implementation.
- To maintain network of internal and external contacts and provide direction / influence to senior project managers and external industry parties / funding organisations where appropriate.
- To be the focal point for external communications activity undertaken by key personnel including director, senior managers and sponsors, delivering consistency with the approved communications strategy and in accordance with Network Rail’s corporate policies.
- To assist with delivery of Network Rail’s corporate internal communications programme and act as a conduit for material/information for corporate communications channels.
- To check that all branding used on the project and activity complies with Network Rail’s corporate policy on branding, visual identity and image.
- To produce regular reports on all communications activities on the project and activity, including budget.
- To be part of the major incident communications plan as required.

***Essential criteria**:

- You will have significant experience in corporate communications
- You will produce high standards of written and spoken communication
- You will have the experience and personal credibility to work effectively with senior managers
- You must have strong influencing skills and a proven ability to grasp, understand and promote complex and sensitive issues in a persuasive and sensible way
- You will have the ability to develop and maintain a wide network of stakeholder contacts**Disability confident**
