Daisy Nook Recruitment is proud to be working alongside a privately run residential home for young adults (17-30 year olds), with homes based in Dunstable, Wootton and Wilstead. The homes are for adults with complex care needs, ranging from learning difficulties,autism, mental health and substance misuse. Our client is looking for Support Workers for their home in Dunstable. This is a great career opportunity, joining a growing service right at a pivotal point.
The salary is between £22,500 - £24,100, dependent on experience.
**Duties and Responsibilities of a Support Worker**
To provide advice, assistance and support to young adults, safeguarding their welfare at all times.
To attend to their practical, physical and emotional needs.
To act as an appropriate role model and to work closely with them to enable them to address their difficulties and achieve their optimum potential.
Establishing positive relationships with young adults and always offering them unconditional and positive regard
Meeting the physical, emotional, behavioural, cultural and educational needs of young people
Acting as a role model and demonstrating appropriate pro-social ways of dealing with problems
Ensuring that each young person's care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs
Keeping accurate records and providing written reports on young people for planning meetings, reviews or any other meetings as directed by the line manager
Encouraging the young person to develop links with the community, attend off-site activities and expand their personal social network
**Support Worker Specifics**
To have a suitable cleared enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service Check.
Positive experience working with Residents who have learning disabilities/ autism/challenging behaviour.
To be able to build appropriate relationships with Residents who have learning disabilities/ autism/challenging behaviour.
To be able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and all significant parties in a client’s life including families’, social workers, other professionals and organisations.
The ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing and to complete reports and care plans.
Be qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
