- We are currently seeking to recruit an Ocean Literacy Coordinator to work with local partners across Wales to scope and plan a series of cross-cutting and integrated events around Wales that bring together all marine sectors and interests to develop the idea and programme plan for “Festival of the Sea”.Over 60% of the people in Wales live at or near the coast which, along with our seas, are a source of an incredible array of benefits, some obvious and others less so. At the same time, our seas offer challenges for coastal communities, many of which are some of the most deprived in Wales. Wales Coasts and Seas Partnership (CaSP Cymru) have been working to address these opportunities and challenges. Key to this is recognising that supporting people’s connection with our coast and sea - often referred to as ‘Ocean Literacy’- is a priority that underpins all the work of the Partnership. In 2022, CaSP established a working group made up of eNGOs, Welsh Government, Natural Resources Wales, partnership groups, Social Enterprises, PhD students, industry and others. The working group have created a strategy for action in Wales to achieve the vision for a Wales where people are connected to and value our coasts and seas. Funding from Welsh Governments Marine and Coastal Capacity Scheme 2023-2025, managed through WCVA, was secured for this position by the working group, to develop and plan the idea of a “Festival of the Sea”.

This is a **fixed term for 1 year post **hosted by North Wales Wildlife Trust and will be working on behalf of the Ocean Literacy Working Group.

The objectives of the festival are to:

- Bring together different sectors, communities and organisations at a local level in Wales to showcase and celebrate the wide array of marine and coastal related activities/enterprises
- Engage communities in the well-being benefits the marine and coast of Wales offers, to raise the profile of the marine and coast and support knowledge sharing around how our lives impact the sea- Job Description_Ocean Literacy Coordinator_ENG
