Applications are invited for the above permanent full-time Teaching & Learning Support Officer
- Librarian role, part of the Digital Services Department of Bangor University.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic librarian to join our multi-skilled team. You will work in partnership with academics, researchers, professional services staff and students across the University but have responsibility for supporting the College of Arts, Humanities and Business.

You will be expected to understand pedagogical principles and academic skills, including information and digital literacy. You will be expected to develop innovative approaches to teaching. You should also possess expertise in crafting compelling and effective student learning experiences.

Requirements for the position include a degree or postgraduate qualification in library or information studies or information management, or close to completing such a qualification along with proven experience in working within an academic support library environment and delivering academic and information skills training.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both Welsh and English and the ability to work effectively with students, and academic and professional services staff.

Experience in the use of virtual learning environments and library tools and systems, especially in relation to resource discovery.

Proven experience in working within an academic support library environment and delivering information skills training.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential for this post.

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-skilled team that supports teaching and learning at Bangor University. The team is part of the larger Digital Services department and work closely with other teams within the department to deliver excellent customer service.

You will also respond to enquiries via the online 'helpdesk' system and provide support for digital technologies.

Purpose of the Job

The Teaching and Learning Officer - Librarian's role is to maximise the development of academic, library and information skills to support the teaching, learning, and research needs of the University. As a member of the multi-skilled support team, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and assessing user requirements within the academic community. Working in close collaboration with Digital Services colleagues and academic staff, you will contribute to the ongoing development and provision of relevant digital and print resources. Additionally, as part of the Teaching & Learning Supporting team, you will use the teams' expertise in information skills, study skills, and learning technology to deliver exceptional customer/client service and support, in line with the University's strategic goals.

Work closely with colleagues to ensure that library systems, tools and services are flexible, responsive, user-focussed and at the leading edge of best practice within the profession.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and maintain partnerships with academic and professional services colleagues to ensure users benefit from Digital services and library collections.- Develop and promote pedagogical approaches to support the use of online reading lists as a driver for student engagement and learning.- The role holder will be expected to develop innovative approaches to the delivery and promotion of such resources and services.- Develop expertise in copyright support and advice to our academic community.- Work with Degree Programme Teams across the University to design, deliver and embed information skills within the curriculum and at all levels of learning, exploiting the full range of teaching and learning methods and online technologies to support such delivery.- Manage referrals for specialist advice, training, and support in a variety of formats (drop-ins, online, one-to-one appointments etc.) in a prompt and professional manner.- Work with Programme Teams in the development of student reading lists and to ensure the effective use of the University’s digital reading list management system.- Respond to relevant queries via the online “helpdesk” system answering general queries directed to the team which will include support of digital technologies.- Represent the Service at formal and informal University and external meetings, and at internal and external quality assurance and validation events. Actively promote, develop, and market library collections, services and activities and work with other library teams using a range of appropriate feedback mechanisms, to ensure that requirements are known, and the impact assessed and documented.- Lead cross-service and University projects to deliver on developments enhancing the student experience, service delivery and provision.Other
