**Job Summary**

As the Technical Buyer, you will report directly to the Purchasing Manager of our organisation and your primary responsibility will be to provide technical support to our dedicated purchasing team. A proactive approach and a can-do attitude are essential for success in this role.

Additionally, the Technical Buyer will collaborate with the Quality and Compliance Administrator, assisting in the completion of paperwork and questionnaires requested by both internal and external stakeholders.

**Key responsibilities**
- Ability to source parts globally.
- Ensure all purchase activities are completed in a controlled and professional manner within the team.
- Take ownership of the entire procurement process, from receipt of tender/specification, cost analysis, ordering and quality control, through to supplier relationship management.
- Ability to work cross functionally with other internal departments such as engineering and fabrication.
- Contribute to and lead supplier negotiations as required.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers.
- Develop and maintain a database of supplier performance metrics to ensure quality, delivery, and cost goals are met.
- Maintain cost-effective solutions while upholding product specifications and quality standards.
- Proactively identify and resolve invoice queries to maintain smooth financial transactions when required.
- Issue tenders and requests for quotations, receiving back, and deciding on the best course of action through analysis and negotiation.
- Negotiate prices with suppliers to secure favourable deals on materials or products.
- Balance customer preferences, market demand, and profitability.
- Optimise costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Place orders with suppliers based on business requirements.
- Monitor order delivery schedules, follow up on any delays and communicate these with the relevant departments.
- Ensure timely receipt of materials.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of product specification with the knowledge to support re-engineering in support of cost & value.
- Can read and understand engineering drawings.
- Guarantee clear value for money in product development, aligning with cost of goods targets and quality requirements.
- Possess manufacturing knowledge to optimise the most efficient product specifications to deliver competitive cost of goods.
- Negotiate lead times with suppliers and manage the production of finished items to ensure timely delivery.
- Efficiently resolve disputes related to quality control, pricing, and sample approval to maintain project momentum.
- Management of KPI’s and initiatives for the department by participating in specific projects.
- There are no direct reports to be managed for this role however the role is required to provide support and advice to the purchasing team on the procurement of various components.
- Maintain proactive and open communication channels with suppliers to discuss ongoing projects, address issues, and provide support as needed.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to foster open and transparent collaborative communication.
- Contribute your insights and expertise to the implementation of the organisation’s manufacturing strategy, ensuring alignment with sourcing goals.

**Skills and experiences**
- Proven experience as a Technical Buyer or a similar procurement role, within a technical manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical understanding of components, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong negotiation skills, coupled with excellent communication and analytical abilities.
- The ability to work across functionally with other departments.
- Diligent and systematic in approach, demonstrating a methodical and organised work ethic in the execution of tasks.
- Capable of performing effectively under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
- Solid proficiency in numerical reasoning and calculations.
- Skilled in effectively utilising IT systems and company platforms, with proficiency in Microsoft and Office suites.
