**Cancer Champion**

**Job Title: Cancer Champion (Polish/Bulgarian community)**

**Location**:Various locations within Haringey and Enfield boroughs**

**Salary: £12.50 per hour**

**Hours: 1-2 days per week/equivalent of 8 hrs (flexible)**

**Contract duration: 6 months**

**Start Date: Immediate start**

**About Us**
We are The Bridge Renewal Trust, a community-based charity that is dedicated to creating healthier, stronger and safer communities for the people of Haringey. We do this by working to reduce health inequalities, build stronger communities and ultimately improve quality of life.

**The Role**

As Cancer Champion, you will talk to women to raise awareness of cancer screening programmes, in turn empowering them to make informed choices and take timely and adequate preventive measures. You will encourage women to respond timely to NHS invitations, improve knowledge on the signs and symptoms of cancer, risk factors and healthy lifestyle as well as the importance of regular screening for early cancer diagnosis.

**About you**

You will:

- have a good knowledge of the local area (Haringey and/or Enfield)
- have strong people skills who can support delivery of community events and workshops
- be IT and social media savvy
- be a confident communicator able to promote the project and the activities it delivers

**Roles and Responsibilities**:
Work closely with Project Manager to:

- support the organisation and delivery of community events, workshops and information meet ups
- create and moderate social media channels, generate and post content
- engage with your community during local events and in various settings specific to Polish and Bulgarian community such as shops, supermarkets, food banks, GP practices etc
- distribute screening awareness leaflets, where appropriate
- report back on your activities using agreed reporting template

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 8 per week

**Salary**: £12.50 per hour

Day range:

- Monday to Friday
