Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with a keen interest and experience in working with children with a disability and/or neurodevelopmental conditions. The post holder will work across two well established services, CAMHS Disability at the Hackney Ark (0.4wte) and the Neurodevelopmental Team at Specialist CAMHS (0.4wte). At the Hackney Ark, the post holder will join a community based Tier 3 CAMHS team that provides a high standard of multi-disciplinary integrated care for children in City and Hackney who have disabilities and mental health/emotional problems. The service is run by Homerton University Hospital and provided in partnership with ELFT. The post holders work continues in the Neurodevelopmental team at ELFT Specialist CAMHS where you will bring a psychoanalytic perspective to the emotional and mental health needs of children with ASD and/or ADHD who do not have a learning disability. This is a busy, interesting, and varied job working with children and their families across treatment pathways, with colleagues who are committed to developing innovative and effective ways of working in partnership with families and agencies to provide excellent care.
The post holder will provide high quality evidence based child and adolescent psychotherapy services. This will include professional and practice development and ensuring high quality client-centred care. S/he will lead by example to maintain high standards of child and adolescent psychotherapy and to improve client care across the two services for children with Disabilities and/or neurodevelopmental conditions. The post holder will be a highly visible presence in clinical practice and be accessible to clients and their families.
Your remit will be to ensure psychoanalytic based treatments are available to children and young people including short and longer-term psychoanalytic psychotherapy with children and adolescents, assessments of mental states, consultation and supervision. You will be expected to bring a psychoanalytic perspective to the diverse range of clinical activities encompassed within this post.
