**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Job Title: Young Carers Play and Activity Worker

**Salary**: £12,825 per annum

Hours: 22.5 hours per week, to be worked flexibly (including some evening work)

Duration: Permanent

Location: Hybrid model, to be worked flexibly from home, or in the community, with occasional visits to our Bletchley Office as required.

**Job Aim**:
To support young carers access respite opportunities, helping them develop new skills, improve their confidence, and allow them time away from their caring role. You will lead in the planning, co-ordination and delivery of young carer’s clubs, groups and activities throughout the year in accordance with organisational budgets.

**Main Duties**:

- Develop programs, plan activities and other opportunities that positively impact upon the young carers’ social and personal developmental needs.
- Develop plans in a timely manner, in line with budgets set by your manager.
- Ensure you plan, deliver, record, monitor and evaluate your work.
- Provide activities that support growth of new friendships, new skills and provide fun and respite from the young person’s caring role.
- Develop positive and appropriate relationships with the young carers attending the club or activity.
- Lead on the practical aspects of setting up, delivering and clearing away clubs/activities.
- Use the database, Charity Log, to store relevant information and ensure carers are being invited to events etc.
- Write risk assessments for events and activities.
- Adhere to all our policies and procedures, including Safeguarding and Health and Safety.
- Assist with social media and website updates.
- Work cooperatively with the Fundraising and Communications team.
- Any other duties as reasonably required by Carers Milton Keynes.

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Experience of working with young people (E)
- Effective communication skills (E)
- Ability to use IT and Microsoft packages to a reasonable level (E)
- Experience of working with vulnerable young people who might be difficult to engage and demonstrate challenging behavior (D)
- Youth work, play or sports coaching qualification (D)
- Demonstration of a commitment to equality and diversity (E)

**Other**
- Full driving license and access to own car for work purposes (E)
- Willingness to work flexibly (including working hours after school and in the evenings) when needed for planned events (E)

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 22.5 per week
