Exercise Practitioner for Older People
Location: St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton and Southampton General Hospital
Hours: Full time, core hours 08:00-16:00 Mon-Fri.
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract

This position will work in partnership with UHS Medicine For Older People - Therapy team, to deliver quality care and rehabilitation exercise programmes to inpatients. You will support the therapy team to improve patient outcomes in a 1:1 and group setting, whilst working alongside Saints Foundations Falls team to improve access to community-based exercise sessions upon discharge.
This is a role that would suit a Level 3 Fitness Professional.
What will you be doing?
We’re excited to be working in partnership with UHS Medicine For Older People - Therapy team, to deliver quality care and rehabilitation exercise programmes to inpatients.
You will support the therapy team to improve patient outcomes in a 1:1 and group setting, whilst working alongside Saints Foundations Falls team to improve access to community-based exercise sessions upon discharge.
As Falls Physical Activity Project Officer you will be responsible for developing and delivering individual and group exercise programmes for older people, differentiating for different levels of ability and physical health. You will need to build strong working relationships between Saints Foundation and UHS, optimising communication and referral processes.

Person Specification:
- Minimum CIMSPA recognised level 3 fitness qualification.
- Experience of working with older people who have a variety of physical and medical conditions.
- Experience or qualification in the field of exercise with older people or those living with disability.
- Knowledge of the causes, consequences, and management of falls in older adults.
- Knowledge of the effects of aging on body systems and the importance of physical activity.
