**Local Studies Librarian**:
Cheshire Archives and Local Studies, a shared service of Cheshire West and Chester Council and Cheshire East Council, has recently secured a National Lottery Heritage Fund delivery phase grant to relocate the service to new centres in Chester and Crewe and to deliver easy access to Cheshire’s histories.
This one-year role will help us extend access to and understanding of local studies material held in the Cheshire Record Office and libraries across Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East, with a particular focus on preparing for the move to new premises.

This is an exciting time to join the team at Cheshire Archives and an opportunity to gain experience in a service undergoing transformation.
We are looking for a qualified librarian to develop our printed collections, undertaking tasks including the appraisal, cataloguing and classification of donations and acquisitions. The post holder will also work closely with library staff and external partners to plan and prepare to integrate their collections. We expect the post holder to contribute to social media and help promote the service and local studies material. Some volunteer supervision and staff training will be part of this role. There will also be the opportunity to get involved in community events and activities as part of the National Lottery Heritage Funded project.
You will have a proven track record of sound decision-making and using your initiative to help solve problems. It is important you have the ability to work independently on multiple tasks with minimum supervision. Excellent IT skills and managing data with a high level of accuracy is essential.
This role will involve primarily working in the Cheshire Record Office in Chester, with some home working and at other venues across Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East.
