Cheshire West and Chester Council brings a fresh and energetic approach to providing top quality services for its many customers and communities. West Cheshire is a place where everyone can Thrive - through our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.

Our collections are as rich and complex as the history of Cheshire and can tell millions of stories. We have plans for an ambitious seamless search of collections information and digital assets for our audiences, and to deliver this step-change in collections discovery we need more and improved collections information, indexing and metadata. We are also delivering a programme to add geolocation and detailed descriptive metadata to digital assets selected by our communities to represent their stories. Adding information to our collections management systems is also essential for the project so that we can move our collections to new centres in the winter of 2024/2025.

We are seeking a creative thinker with a relevant degree level education, strong technical skills, and a fascination for data and its potential. You should have practical experience of working with collections information and management systems, and proven experience of successfully delivering projects. You should also have good knowledge of relevant collections information standards for archives, libraries and digital asset management.

It's important that you have the ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision, but also enjoy working within a wider team. We are also looking for someone who has excellent organisational and time management skills and who is able to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences in a variety of ways.

This role will involve both working from home and at the Cheshire Record Office in Chester.

Cheshire West and Chester Council are committed to equality and diversity in employment. Please see the Equality Policy for more information.

Cheshire West and Chester Council have adopted a Local Living Wage for our employees which means that all employees will receive a minimum of £10.90 per hour for all contracted hours.
