An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ED Receptionist to join our admin team in our very busy ED department.

Duties are to include booking patients into A&E, answering telephone queries, covering all reception duties, scanning and liaising with clinical and non clinical staff.

The post is flexible working within a 24 hr environment, however cross site working will be a must.

The primary focus of this post is to provide high quality patient centered clerical support within the emergency services department ensuring that all clerical needs of the unit are completed in an appropriate and timely manner. You will be a key member of the Emergency Departmental team providing a front line reception and administration service for patients, relatives and other visitors to the Trust 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Also you will be required to provide cover for annual leave and sickness in order to deliver a 7 day week service including bank holiday. You are required to be flexible and will be providing a comprehensive administrative service covering all aspects of the Emergency Department

To be the first point of contact for patients/relatives and visitors attending the Emergency Department who are often unwell and in a highly anxious and distressed state. To communicate effectively using tact and persuasive skills where there may be barriers to communication i.e. patients/relatives may be in a confused, anxious, aggressive state.

To accurately register, update and maintain all patients attending the Emergency Department on the hospital patient information systems (ie Lorenzo/Unity) for Emergency Department attendances ensuring all patient demographics are completed. This includes all admission, transfer and discharge details.
