The Nursing Associate will be an accountable professional, responsible for delivering high quality, patient centred, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Bridging the gap between health and care staff and the Registered nurses, they will perform duties as appropriate to the Standards of Proficiency for Nursing Associates (NMC, 2018). The post holder will delegate and supervise duties within their Scope of Practice to nursing support staff that are not registered with the NMC. The post holder will work as part of a designated clinical care team delivering care that focuses on the direct care needs of the individual, but will also have the ability to work without direct supervision, at all times delivering care independently in line with the defined plans of care and within the parameters of the Nursing Associate roles. This role is specifically for Elderly Care which brings great opportunities to develop your holistic approach to nursing the elderly care population.
1. Deliver high quality care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or other registered care professional.

1. Support other registered staff in the assessment and implementation of care and enhance patient care through continual assessment utilising knowledge and skills to seek advice and escalate care to the appropriate professional.

1. Maintain accurate, clear, legible records and documentation;
- utilising IT systems relevant to the working environment eg Trakcare, DATIX, EPMA.

1. Provide person centred nursing care to include meeting the needs of patients in relation to rest, sleep, comfort and maintenance of dignity.

1. Support patients’ needs with regards to hygiene and the maintenance of skin integrity.

1. Provide support with nutrition and hydration, bladder and bowel function.

1. Provide support with mobility and safety.

1. Undertake activities for prevention and management of infections.

1. Meeting the needs for care and support for patients at the end of life.

1. Communicate with other healthcare professionals and support staff to monitor and deliver high quality safe compassionate care.

1. Communicate with patients and relatives to provide empathy and reassurance.

1. Carry out regular appraisals for staff, ensuring business goals are clearly communicated and linked to objectives.

1. Review training and development of support staff, so all staff have a personal development plan, and support staff in reaching their full potential as identified through the appraisal process.
